Little bits of material-What can I make with them?

Post by jdh239 »

I found that I have chunks of material left over that are too small for many projects, but I hate to waste it.

I came up with an idea of making little 1x1 or 1.5x1.5 keyrings and such with the space (fit 2 or 3 in some of those areas). I would like to know what others are doing to optimize their material instead of wasting it ($$$ making ideas)

I make "Round TUITs" from any area of the sheet that is big enough to cut one from.

Why give it to the scrap yard for pennies when a little powder coating can make it worth some $$$.
They come in all sizes; Whatever will fit!

There is a growing stack of 3.75" pieces waiting for the farmers markets and craft shows. I can get $8.00 for them, depending on the crowd. But many are 'give aways' for good customers.

When someone says "When I get around to it...". You get the picture.

The other one isn't always on the table - again, it depends on the crowd.

I make desk plaques with some of my scrap. I get $25-$35 each depending on the complexity.

Hey Loyd
Great Idea I like that and the price too. I will have to make up some of those after rehab from shoulder surgery. :( I just need to get the big holes in my table to shrink so the scrap will stay on the table and not end up under it in all the junk.

Great idea, If you both don't mind to tell what machines do you own? Looking to buy a new one, you both have very nice cuts on such small parts.

About 9"x6" not counting the butterfly ....here's a file...PlasmaCam......Hypertherm 1250 with finecut consumables...
the way I look at it....it only takes 4 to make a hundred dollars....I saved up a sizeable down payment for my Vulcan 1500 classic by making those.... 8-)

Thanks Loyd,
Appreciate you sharing the file. Great idea selling 4 pays for a sheet of steel.

No problem....for once an original idea! Those are hard to come by for a jarhead! I have sold some also for bookends...just bend them at 90 deg.
