problem with offset cut paths

Post by sleepyweezle »

I upgraded my plasma to a miller 875 using 40 amp consumables and I tried to adjust the offset in cut paths to .065 but when I convert to cut path my drawing has loops at points and in letters so it looks horrible any help would be appreciated thanks
1st picture is when I convert to cut path

I think your problem is in the CAM program you are using not the PLasma unit.
I think in SheetCam there is a setting about the corners and how the G-code acts to give a sharp cutting motion.

All of my design is done in plasmacam if I set it to 0 offset the image cuts right but I have to worry about loosing thin areas of the drawing

In the "Offset" page of the "Settings" menu, select "Exclude crossovers". That should fix it.

Sorry for the late reply.

Yes, we run DesignEdge. In 3.xx you'll have to edit the cut path to get rid of the sharp corner "spikes" when they pop up.
