Clear coat aluminum

Post by noclinkers »

I am making a two piece sign. The Backing is polished aluminum. Would y"all clear coat the aluminum or leave it bare? This is an indoor sign.
If you did clear, how would you prep?
Thanks!

Clear coat. Aluminum will oxidize over a short period of time and your polish will slowly fade to a dull grayish hue. If you are using spray clear, just prep like paint. For powder I would clean thoroughly and bake (out-gassing) to make sure everything is perfectly clean, then powder.
