I've been cutting awhile now with fine cut and normal tips. have to cut a fit pit out of 10ga stainless. i tried with the book settings for fine cut tips. got thru a few cuts and then the torch started diving as it finished the pierce. new tips, tried speeding up the pierce delay and the rate a little but no good.
any pointers? hypertherm 85

Books settings on stainless seem to always work for me. Make sure your cut height is correct. If you set .06", measure to see if it really is. If you have a height control where you set a voltage to control height....be sure the voltage you set gets you the correct physical height (measure it). Be sure the mode switch is in cut mode, not gouge or expanded metal as well. Jim Colt Hypertherm

I got the cut finished. first issue was that the material was 11ga not 10ga as I was told. double check thickness... split the 10 and 12 settings and it was better. at .02 cut height as book said the dross build up on the materiel and tip was cause it to hang up. a pause and cleaning the tip kept it going pretty well. i'll keep trying.

That is a quality piece of work. I am so impressed I printed it out to show my wife. Can I ask what it is used for and are the fonts your creation or can they be down loaded somewhere. I haven't found any cursive fonts like those yet. Very nice.
Thanks Gary
Thanks Gary

I don't recall the font name. I usually used Dafont and just search the style I need. I do remember that I had to edit them once vectorized. Small letters where to thin.

Thanks my brain works slower than my typing, I was so focused on beautiful lettering I completely missed the grating above it. I haven't cut any stainless yet but hope to soon. Anyway great job, glad you posted it.
