Suggestions for a new plasma needed
Hi everyone, it seems that our old burney system has finally bit the dust. We have babied this thing for far too long. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good quality machine that will cut up to 1" steel? We currently have a 4x8 table and we would like to keep it that size or a little bigger. Our power supply is a thermo dynamics (dinasour but still works good). Anything that would have the ability to make fine cuts is a good thing also! Thanks for any help you can give me!

How fast and how accurate are you needing to cut?
There are many choices for plasma that will do 1" steel......if you are looking at air plasma systems, the limitation will be pierce thickness. A 100 Amp air plasma is practically limited to piercing of about 7/8", while with an edge start it can cut 1" with very good quality at about 25 inches per minute speed.
At the other end of the spectrum....a Hypertherm HPR400xd will pierce up to 2" thick, will pierce 1" in less than a second, and can cut 1" steel at 85 inches per minute with high definition quality.
