My powder coat oven has arrived, and I am anxious to put it to use. I'm wanting to apply powder clear over Steel FX patina finishes. Normally with a powder coat, you degrease, sandblast, possibly phosphate, etc. Obviously, I cannot do all of that after the patina has been applied. I am curious if there any tips or tricks to get a successful clear powder application over a finished patina project.
Also, any recommendations for a good UV stable clear powder?

I would ask Bill Worden at Steel FX. He should know better than anyone.

I have done many pieces--Clear over patina ---Patina and do nothing but powder coat. The patina will get darker and look better. If you clean with acitone after patina it will spoil your results.

I sandblast, Polish, patina, DRY and then clear powder. Zero issues.

Re: Powder clear over Steel FX patina
Thanks for the info, guys. I was hoping it would be straightforward like this. I haven't had a chance to test out the powder equipment yet, but I hope to do that in the near future.
