SVG always imports at the wrong size?

Post by radnurse68 »

When importing a file that was designed to be, for example 36 in, it never imports at the intended size. It imports smaller at 28 in. I assume that this is a setting issue but I cannot figure out how to change it. When importing the DXF version of the same file into sheetcam it is the correct size. Thanks

Sometime in the last couple of days I was reading a post similar to this.

Not exactly like your problem, but the solution may get you going.

Thanks WyoGreen but that refers to scaling while importing to sheetcam, my problem is when I import a predesigned file by someone else for example from this site, into inkscape is automatically scales it down and doesn't import at the original dimensions.

Thanks

Here is how I do it in Inkscape, go to “document Properties” under the file menu and uncheck show pare border.
Then under default units click on in this changes the drawing screen to inch dimensions.
The save drawing in SVG for SheetCam then import in SheetCam and under scaling change to 1:1 ratio.
This will put the drawing to the size you have draw it in. I always position it in the lower left corner and then I can check the dimensions as shown in the attached screen shot :)

In reference to your last post if the dimensions are not correct from an unknown file from another member use my way to check the size and then import it again and change the scaling by changing the percent that will give you the correct size you want.
