Will a hypertherm 1000 cut half inch aluminum mechanized? I know it is only rated for half inch in steel.

Sorry I didn't see this post sooner. Yes, the Hypertherm Powermax1000 will cut 1/2" aluminum. The recommendations listed in the operators manual say: 30 inches per minute optimum speed, 60 Amps, 1.5 second pierce time, and 1/16" torch standoff. You should use at least a 3/16" pierce height, then index down to 1/16" cut height. I suggest using mig welding anti spatter spray on the shield on the front of the torch to keep aluminum spatter from building up.
