ok kind of a new to all of this so forgive my lingo if its not correct.
Here is the deal.
Trying to make a piece of art.
Downloaded a dxf file of a tractor and was trying add a rectangle at the bottom but i cant get the pieces not to cut separate
any help is appreciated

Also I cant get a rectangle to union to a letter. Like trying to save the center of a 0 from falling out. If that makes any sense.
I can get objects to union if they all all drawn but I cant do letters or images. maybe a setting?

what software are you using? If using Corel, you would most likely want to "Weld" the two pieces together which will join them into one piece. Posting the file will also help.

If you are working with Inkscape see attached image
Not sure if this is what you want.
I entered the letters by creating them in Inkscape then under path I clicked on "object to path" then I move in the butterfly and did a "trace bitmap" on it and moved to to touch the letters. Then highlighted ( put a box around) both and under path did a "combine" this attached them together as one. But they both need to be paths.

i figured it out. I just needed to select the outer edge of the file and the union the text box if that makes sense
