Just started, thought it was heavy gauge , 1/4", problem but is happening on thin gauge also.
Torch moves to pierce height, pierces and then dives to the plate to start cutting and then moves to cut and raises to cut height. Sometimes it is ok and continues cutting ok but usually it hits the plate and flames out. Something seems to be something going wrong with the digital height control from CandCNC.
New consumables, dry air and stumped operator.
Any suggestions?/?

Re: Weird Development
Do you check your z offset just as often as your ref x and y? Mines done weird stuff like that, almost like the z switch is asleep or somthing....but checking the offset "wakes" it up,,, not sure that helps.

Re: Weird Development
Check your THC delay. Sounds like it is too short causing torch to dive then recover. I did this when I first started.

Yes, check Z offset before every sheet is started.Doc Hollywood wrote:Do you check your z offset just as often as your ref x and y? Mines done weird stuff like that, almost like the z switch is asleep or somthing....but checking the offset "wakes" it up,,, not sure that helps.

Where is the delay setting and what should it be at?grindergary wrote:Check your THC delay. Sounds like it is too short causing torch to dive then recover. I did this when I first started.HTHGary
Assuming it is different than the pierce delay?? That is set at book spec and has never changed.

Re: Weird Development
Just to wrap this up. I played with settings, my THC delay was at 1.2 sec. Talked with Dan at LDR and by process of elimination it turned out to be a bad Shield that I had just replaced new. Put the old swirl ring back in and still had issues. Put the old shield back on and walla cut like usual with no issues.
I would have never guessed this but changing the swirld ring and shield were that last things I had dones before the issues developed.
