torch height on or off whats better?
Just wondering what everyones thoughts are on cutting with the torch height off or on .I was told that on fine artsy stuff OFF is the way to go and on parts and simple stuff ON is they way to go looking for any feedback on that as my source isnt as experienced as some of you may be . I do realize that if the metal to be cut is bend or curved ON is the answer Im talkin perfect flat conditions.

On. I leave mine on all the time unless I am cutting small diameter holes.

If i am cutting parts or intricate drawings it seems to dive the torch at the end of the cuts causing it to stop suddenly and I then press run and it usaully goes to the next cut but sometimes brings up a code in mach3 that says something like r jk words all missing from line 2497 or whatever its on when it happened and wont let me keep cutting any ideas what that might be as i would prefer to use the DTHC although thats why its there right.

Deffinetly on. Do you have the option for fast and slow up or down? If you have problems diving at the end switch to slow.

I don't know your machine or software but with some there are settings to freeze the THC when the machine is in corner slowdown or slowdown for small holes. For example,"freeze THC when feed rate goes below 70% of the programmed feed rate" Also there might be an option to freeze it a certain distance from the end of a cut. All of that will help with diving.

Dustan , I have the same table with no problems, you must have your settings messed up.
